Jungle Tarpon…

While the promise of hooking into a massive jungle tarpon fueled our spirits, the reality of catching these elusive giants proved to be a formidable challenge. The unpredictable weather and fluctuating water conditions tested our patience and skills as we navigated through winding rivers and tributaries. El Nino had provided this region with an arid season, resulting in lower water levels and reduced numbers of migratory tarpon, making our pursuit all the more challenging.

But what is fly fishing without a healthy dose of unpredictability and excitement? Even though the tarpon were playing hard to get, we experienced some electrifying moments when they leaped from the water, their scales glistening in the sunlight. These mesmerizing encounters were a testament to the thrill of the chase and the indomitable spirit of these silver kings.

Beyond the fishing, our journey was a profound exploration of Costa Rica’s astonishing biodiversity. The rainforest canopy resonated with the calls of howler monkeys and exotic birds while the rivers teemed with life.
