Jungle Tarpon Reserve

is a vast system of freshwater rivers, creeks, and flooded lagoons surrounded by rainforests and swampland. Seasonal rains flood the immense lagoons, creating an inland freshwater sea surrounded by volcanoes riddled with prehistoric creatures like tropical gar, sawfish, bull sharks, and the mighty jungle tarpon. This apex predator collection explosively feeds on the many baitfish species pushed into the lagoons by the heavy annual deluge. Tarpon have journeyed many miles (sometimes 200 miles) inland to reach the lagoons. From their time in the tannin-stained freshwater, the tarpon has lost its silvery hue and is uniquely very dark. Battling these beasts confined by the river’s lush banks is an explosive and awe-inspiring experience. The jungles here are lush. The dark waters are often teaming with giant tarpon, which you can see blowing up bait or pushing a huge wake through the otherwise flat lagoons. This a truly one-of-a-kind experience!
