A Typical Day At ElGallo
We start the day off right
After a night of restful sleep in your luxurious private room, and a fresh cooked breakfast, the El Gallo staff will help you load up for the short drive from the “Eagle’s Nest” to the boat ramp to meet your captain. As a fly fishing lodge, our days center around the pursuit of our game. Depending on the species you’re seeking that day, the season of the year, and current conditions, our departure and return times will vary from one day to the next.
The goal is not to spend as much time on the water as possible, but to pack as much fun into every hour as we can. Our professional team is centered around two things, your enjoyment and the serious pursuit of the sport of fly fishing. We think you’ll find this blend is the best of both worlds.
As fishing winds down for the day
By the time the sun reaches its peak, expect to feel the heat. We make an early start to get in the best fishing possible, and guests are typically feeling the effects by somewhere around noon. Baja California is a beautiful, but unforgiving climate, and the heat, coupled with a few hours of wrestling large sport fish is enough to tire out even the most avid enthusiast.
We’ve got you covered. Each boat will be stocked with coolers of lunches, snack food, and beverages to enjoy on the way back to the lodge. Sit back as the warm breeze washes over you, after two to three hours of fighting sea monsters and relax with an ice cold drink and a refreshing lite lunch.
Don’t worry, the enjoyment doesn’t end on the boat! El Gallo has more to offer.
Afternoons at the lodge
Back at the landing, the El Gallo staff will meet you for the air conditioned ride a few minutes back up the mountain to the lodge. After a luxurious shower, take a dip in one of our saltwater, infinity edge pools, overlooking the sea of Cortez with more cold beverages.
For those who still have a little gas in the tank, the desert awaits, and what better way to enjoy it than an evening ATV ride through the rugged terrain. Our staff will pilot the vehicles for a tour of the local scenery, or down to the private beach to cast a few more flies. It’s your day, just let the staff know what time you’d like to sit down to eat your evening meal expecting dinner and a show as nature breaks out her greatest glory.
Evenings at the mountain top El Gallo fly fishing lodge are nothing short of spectacular as the sky puts on a light show that is beyond compare. The vibrant colors as the sun sets over the sea of Cortez will set the sky on fire, while you bask in the memories of the ones that didn’t get away that day, thanks to your amazing guides. We suggest you enjoy the view from the pool for maximum effect.
